WAFCON 2026: Cameroon crowned champions

The Indomitable Lionesses have made history by winning the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations for the first time.

Cameroon are the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations champions. The Indomitable Lionesses dominated Malawi 3-0 in the final to claim the title on Sunday 16 August at the Moulay El Hassan Stadium in Rabat.

The Cameroon team took the lead early in the first half. The Cameroonian women quickly gained the upper hand against Malawi, leading 2-0 after the first 30 minutes.

Marie Gisele Ngah Manga opened the scoring in the 20th minute, putting the Indomitable Lionesses 1–0 ahead. The Cameroonian side doubled their lead 10 minutes later. Naomi Eto scored Cameroon’s second goal in the 30th minute to make it 2–0. Marie Gisele Ngah Manga scored a brace to seal a 3-0 victory for the Indomitable Lionesses.

After losing three finals in 2004, 2014 and 2016, Cameroon have finally clinched their first title in the history of WAFCON. Cameroon have become the fourth African nation to win the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
