Victor Wanyama, former Harambee Stars captain and Kenya’s most accomplished football export, has vowed to help elevate the country’s football standards. The ex-Tottenham Hotspur midfielder believes his experience and networks can create opportunities for young talents.
“I have always wanted to use my position to help others,” Wanyama told SportsBoom. Football has given me opportunities, and I feel obligated to return the favor. My goal is to see more Kenyan athletes achieve international success.
Wanyama highlighted poor infrastructure and lack of grassroots investment as key barriers to Kenya’s football growth. He expressed interest in collaborating with the Football Kenya Federation to improve facilities and develop the sport at all levels.
Now a free agent after leaving CF Montreal, Wanyama insists he’s not retiring yet. “Football is my life, and as long as I’m fit, I’ll keep going,” he said, determined to inspire Kenya’s football future.
