Tragic loss: NFL star Trent Williams’ baby born stillborn

Sondra Williams, wife of San Francisco 49ers player Trent Williams, shared a heartbreaking announcement on Instagram, revealing that their baby was born stillborn at 35 weeks. The devastating loss has left their family in deep sorrow.

It was disclosed that the baby suffered from Patau syndrome, a rare genetic disorder that causes severe congenital defects in the heart, nervous system, and other internal organs. Sondra also revealed that the baby had a twin brother who passed away earlier in the pregnancy.

The couple, already parents to three daughters, had been eagerly anticipating the birth of their first son, making this loss an unimaginable tragedy for the family.

Following the news, the 49ers immediately granted Williams leave to be with his grieving family during this difficult time.

Trent Williams has faced adversity before; in 2019, he underwent surgery to remove a tumor on his head, which was diagnosed as a form of sarcoma.

The 36-year-old has played for the San Francisco 49ers since 2020 and is widely regarded as one of the greatest offensive linemen in NFL history. Williams has been selected for the Pro Bowl 11 times and named to the All-Pro teams on four occasions.
