The son of legendary five-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo — 16-year-old Cristiano Jr. — has received his first official call-up to Portugal’s U17 national team.

Details: The promising forward has been included in the national team squad for a series of important international fixtures to be played in November. As part of the upcoming mini-tournament, Portugal’s youngsters will face their counterparts from Andorra, Bulgaria and Serbia.

Sports scouts have long highlighted the young forward’s impressive scoring record and leadership qualities at youth level, where he is developing the athleticism, powerful finishing and eye for goal inherited from his famous father. The Portuguese Football Federation is following the player’s progress with great enthusiasm, hoping he can successfully adapt to the international stage.

It is worth noting that senior Cristiano Ronaldo is the outright record-holder for appearances and the all-time leading scorer for Portugal, having scored more than 130 goals for his country and guided the nation to triumphs at Euro 2016 and in the UEFA Nations League.
