Last night, one of the most anticipated bouts of the autumn took place. At Wembley Stadium in London, Daniel Dubois defended his heavyweight title against former champion Anthony Joshua.

Throughout the fight, Dubois dominated, sending Joshua to the canvas multiple times before ultimately knocking him out in the fifth round.

The event was attended by numerous notable figures, including the last undisputed heavyweight champion, Ukraine’s Oleksandr Usyk. After the fight, Usyk shared his thoughts on Dubois' victory.

Details: Long before the bout, Usyk had been asked about this matchup. At the time, he told Mail Sport Boxing that he expected another fight with Joshua. According to him, he would defeat Tyson Fury once again, and Joshua would beat Dubois, setting up a third encounter between the two fighters.

When asked about Joshua’s chances, Usyk confidently replied:

"Of course! This is a fight between an Olympic champion and a British champion. Anthony is on another level."

However, after the fight, Usyk gave a brief interview where he admitted that Dubois' victory came as a surprise to him, though he acknowledged that "this is boxing."

Quote: "I thought Joshua would win. But this is boxing. It was a surprise for me. I expected Anthony to win," Usyk told Sky Sports.

He was then asked about his preparations for the upcoming rematch with Fury, to which he responded:

"Yes, tomorrow I return to my training camp and continue preparing."

Reminder: Oleksandr Usyk has faced both fighters who squared off last night. He first fought Joshua in 2021, followed by a rematch in 2022. Earlier this year, Usyk also faced Dubois. In all of these matchups, the Ukrainian emerged victorious.

After his victory over Fury, Usyk became the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. However, just days later, he was stripped of his IBF title due to his inability to fulfill a mandatory defense.
