Despite falling behind early on, the Ghanaians turned the match around against the Malians before securing a resounding 5-1 victory on Monday 2 November in Ismailia.

The match, played at the Suez Canal Stadium, had, however, started with USFAS Bamako in the lead. Oumou Koné opened the scoring in the 11th minute, putting the WAFU-A representatives ahead.

But Ghana’s response was not long in coming. Angelina Yeboah levelled the score in the 28th minute, before Patricia Agyei put Ampem Darkoa ahead three minutes later (31st minute).

The WAFU-B side thus went into the break with a narrow lead. After the break, Ampem Darkoa Ladies continued in the same vein. Angelina Yeboah scored her second goal in the 79th minute, taking the score to 3-1.

Four minutes later, Beline Nyarkoh added to the tally (83rd minute), before Nancy Amoh sealed Ghana’s victory in added time. With this resounding 5-1 victory, Ampem Darkoa Ladies have made a convincing start to their Group B campaign.
