There are complaints about the referee. Kaizer Chiefs coach names reason for Soweto derby defeat
Kaizer Chiefs head coach Fernando Da Cruz commented on the 2-1 defeat to Orlando Pirates in the Soweto derby. The coach believes his team could have secured a much better result if they had been more clinical with their chances in the first half.
In the first half we must kill this game. Normally, 2 or 3-0 because the goal of Pirates, we’ve seen it’s offside and maybe there is a red card as well. If we score two or three goals, we’re gonna kill this game. In the second half, the last 20 minutes, with our young players we have a lack of experience. They don’t create chances because we have a lack of experience, we give them chances to score more goals, — Da Cruz was quoted as saying by SuperSportTV.
The coach also explained why his team failed to turn the game around after the break. According to the manager, the inexperience of the young players told in the final 20 minutes, as they failed to create enough dangerous chances and, instead, allowed the opposition to threaten their goal.
As a result, Da Cruz was unhappy not only with the result but also with the way his players handled the advantages they had during the match. The derby defeat left Kaizer Chiefs in fifth place in the league table.
