World No. 1 Jannik Sinner began Wimbledon 2024 with a victory.

In the first round, the Italian tennis star defeated Germany's Yannick Hanfmann, ranked 110th in the ATP rankings, in four sets.

In the first set, the Australian Open champion didn't hit full throttle, converting one break point to win 6-3. The second set followed a similar pattern, ending in a 6-4 victory for the Italian.

However, the third set saw Hanfmann spring a surprise. He took an early lead, going up 3-0, and secured the set 6-3. This served as a wake-up call for one of Wimbledon's favorites, who clinched the decisive set 6-3.

Sinner's next opponent will be his compatriot Matteo Berrettini.
