French tennis player Gaël Monfils has revealed his longtime fascination with magic since his youth. Presently, the renowned tennis showman is honing his craft in magic to potentially venture into show business in the future.

"I've been intrigued by magic for a long time, but I kept it somewhat of a secret because deep down, after tennis, I want to delve into something related to magic.

When I was younger, my parents took me to see a magician, and I was captivated by the spirit of the show. That's when I dabbled a bit myself. As I grew older, I attempted a couple of tricks. Then, I met a very good illusionist who helped me elevate my skills to the highest level. And now, nearing the end of my career, I'm contemplating delving into magic. It would be audacious to say I'm practicing, but I'm just doing tricks for fun.

I often attend magic shows. I've been to many. In 2009, I went to see Criss Angel. I watched David Copperfield in Vegas. When I was in England, I went with Elina because she knew I was into magic. It was during the first weeks of our acquaintance; she knew I loved magic, so she joined me at the magic show. I've seen so many magicians. But now, with the time I have, maybe even during the offseason, I'll attend more shows.

I like cards. I like illusions. But if you've been observing me from the beginning, no one paid attention to my interest in magic. I have a tattoo [of a card], and it's always been [on my wrist], but no one noticed. That's the trick! Nobody noticed. It's always been there.

My daughter enjoys it. She'll be an illusionist, for sure. She loves cards. Maybe she'll be better than her father. She likes my tricks," Monfils shared.

Currently, Gaël is competing at the Indian Wells Masters. He is set to face Casper Ruud in the round of 16.
