Final Ligue 1 table: who qualified for European competitions and who was relegated?
On May 19, the final round of the current season in French Ligue 1 took place. Only two questions remained open. Lille and Brest were in a head-to-head battle to determine who would go directly into the Champions League group stage and who would play in the qualifiers. Meanwhile, Lyon and Lens were competing for sixth place, which grants the right to play in the Europa Conference League.
PSG, having already secured the title, qualified directly for the Champions League group stage, joined by Monaco and Brest, who surpassed Lille in the final round. Lille will have to go through the qualifying rounds.
Nice finished in fifth place and earned a spot in the Europa League. Lyon, by securing a victory over Strasbourg, claimed a place in the Europa Conference League. If Lyon defeats PSG in the French Cup final, they will swap places with Nice in the competitions.
In the lower part of the standings, there were changes as well. Lorient's victory over Clermont relegated Clermont to Ligue 2, where they will be joined by Metz. Lorient will play in the relegation playoffs. Notably, Auxerre and Angers will definitely be seen in Ligue 1 next season.
