Jay B. Bickerstaff will become the new head coach of the Detroit Pistons. This information was revealed today by ESPN journalist Adrian Wojnarowski. He has agreed to sign a five-year contract with the club.

Bickerstaff, a 45-year-old coach, has spent the last five seasons as the head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers, leading his team to the playoffs twice. Previously, he has also coached the Memphis Grizzlies and Houston Rockets, participating in 485 games as a head coach, including 22 playoff games.

The Pistons are undergoing a five-year streak without making the playoffs. In the 2023-24 season under Monty Williams, the team posted a record of 14 wins and 68 losses in the regular season. Bickerstaff is tasked with ending this streak, and Detroit aims to refresh its roster a bit this summer to aid in this effort.
