Scottish boxing legend Willie Limond (42-6, 13 KO) passed away at the age of 45.

In April, Limond suffered an epileptic seizure while behind the wheel. After ten days in the hospital, the renowned athlete passed away.

A former super lightweight champion, Limond faced notable opponents in his professional boxing career, including Amir Khan, Erik Morales, and Anthony Crolla.

Limond made his professional debut in 1999, knocking out Lenny Hodgkins in the first round and winning his first 18 fights as a professional.

He later fought against compatriot and future WBO titleholder Alex Arthur for the British lightweight title but was unsuccessful, losing by knockout in the eighth round.

Nevertheless, the Glasgow native rebounded and, in just four fights, challenged Youssouf Djibaba for the EBU European title, where he won by unanimous decision and secured his first major championship.

Limond's final fight took place in September 2023, where he suffered a technical knockout loss to Ricky Burns in Glasgow.
