St. Louis City Sack Head Coach Olof Mellberg After Just 15 Matches

St. Louis City have parted ways with head coach Olof Mellberg after only 15 games in charge, the club confirmed Tuesday evening. The Swedish manager had taken over in the offseason following the departure of Bradley Carnell, but results failed to improve under his tenure.
According to OneFootball, St. Louis earned just 11 points across those 15 games, scoring a mere eight goals. The team currently sits in 14th place in the MLS standings.
“This decision goes beyond just results,” said Sporting Director Lutz Pfannenstiel. “We’ve assessed the team’s overall performance, including the importance of executing a style of play that has defined our identity and past success. We believe a coaching change is necessary to improve and return to a winning culture. Our fans deserve better.”
St. Louis City will face San Jose Earthquakes next as they begin the search for a new head coach.
