The Manchester City striker is writing a new chapter in his country’s World Cup history.

Details: Today, in a truly historic moment during the World Cup match between Iraq and Norway, the football world witnessed something special.

Despite a nervy start from the Norwegians, the “Vikings” managed to turn the tide and broke the deadlock in the 29th minute thanks to a precise strike from 25-year-old Erling Haaland, who netted his first-ever World Cup goal.

Until the 2026 World Cup, Norway hadn’t qualified for the tournament in 28 years, which meant Haaland had never had the chance to play or score at the senior global stage. That makes this goal even more significant.

For Haaland, this was his 57th goal in a Norway shirt. He has found the net in every official match for the national team since November 2024.
