The Ghana national team loses a key player.

Details: According to Mundo Deportivo, the Canadian appeals court has rejected the appeal of 33-year-old Ghanaian defensive midfielder Thomas Partey of Villarreal and upheld the ban on his entry into Canada.

It is reported that Partey is unable to obtain a Canadian visa due to ongoing legal proceedings regarding a rape case for which he is to stand trial in the United Kingdom.

Partey's representatives filed an appeal in hopes of securing an exemption for Thomas, but the Canadian court refused to make an exception, even for a World Cup participant.

As a result, Partey will miss Ghana's opening match against Panama and could potentially be sidelined for the entire World Cup.

Reminder: Ghana files court appeal over Partey visa cancellation as hearing takes place
