Jose Mourinho has been dealt a massive blow ahead of the season's first El Clásico.

Details: According to AS, Real Madrid expect Vinicius Junior to receive a suspension of at least two LaLiga matches following his dismissal against Villarreal. This would rule the Brazilian out of the highly anticipated clash with Barcelona on October 25. However, the disciplinary committee has yet to announce its final decision.

The incident occurred during Real Madrid's 1-0 victory over Villarreal. Vinicius, who came off the bench in the 52nd minute, appeared to score before VAR spotted that he had pulled Nathan Saliba's hair earlier in the move. Referee Isidro Diaz de Mera Escuderos disallowed the goal and showed the Brazilian a straight red card.

The referee's match report could make matters even worse. According to the official's account, Vinicius continued protesting loudly after his dismissal, approached him aggressively and had to be restrained by his teammates.

Under Article 121 of the Spanish disciplinary regulations, violent conduct when the player has no opportunity to challenge for the ball carries a two-match suspension. Real Madrid face Sevilla on October 18 before visiting Barcelona on October 25, meaning even the minimum expected punishment would cost Vinicius his place in El Clásico. A longer ban also remains possible.

It is worth noting that Vinicius apologised to his teammates and supporters following the incident. Mourinho had initially left the Brazilian on the bench against Villarreal, his first omission from the starting lineup this season.

Reminder: Scandal! Mourinho skips the press conference. Why?
