Senegal on top of Africa for the second time in its history !
Senegal has won its second Africa Cup of Nations title. It defeated Morocco on Sunday, 18 January 2026, to claim the title.
It was at the end of a crazy match that the Senegalese national team was crowned in Rabat. A big chance was missed in the first half, then a goal was disallowed in stoppage time in the second half.
The highlight of the final was its interruption following a controversial penalty awarded to Morocco and missed by Brahim Diaz, who attempted a Panenka against Edouard Mendy. But the minutes that followed proved fatal for the host country.
Pape Gueye found the solution in extra time to crucify Morocco. The Senegalese player beat two opponents to send a magnificent strike from the edge of the box. Yassine Bounou was powerless to stop it, and the ball ended up in the top right corner of the goal, 1-0.
This single goal gave Senegal the title, the second in its history after the first in 2022.
