Racing Tops Argentine Clubs in IFFHS Ranking as River Stays in Top 50 and Boca Slips

The International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS) has released its latest global club rankings, and the results offer a clear snapshot of Argentine football’s current international standing: Racing Club leads the pack, River Plate holds steady in the top 50, and Boca Juniors has dropped significantly.
According to the updated table published on May 17 and reported by Bolavip, Racing sits at 32nd place with 248 points, boosted by its recent triumphs in the Copa Sudamericana and the Recopa Sudamericana. River, who ranked 27th in 2024, now holds the 35th position with 242 points, maintaining a strong international profile.
Boca, meanwhile, fell from 57th to 68th with 182 points—a decline attributed to its absence from the last two Copa Libertadores editions, which has diminished its continental visibility and impact.
Other Argentine clubs in the top 110 include Lanús (74th), Vélez (104th), Huracán (105th), and Central Córdoba (107th). San Lorenzo (147th), Rosario Central (148th), and Independiente (172nd) also appear on the list, albeit further down.
Globally, Real Madrid leads the rankings, followed by Barcelona and Inter Milan. Among South American sides, Botafogo (13th) and Flamengo (14th) are the best positioned.
While not definitive, the IFFHS ranking highlights how crucial international competition and sustained performance are for maintaining global relevance in club football.
