Pirates’ Coaching Future: Ncikazi Leads Now, Mokwena on Radar

South African giants Orlando Pirates have named Mandla Ncikazi as interim head coach following the departure of Jose Riveiro, confirming he will lead the team until the end of the current season.
Experienced Hand at the Helm
The 56-year-old tactician guided the Buccaneers through four games, registering one win and three draws. While a permanent replacement is still being sought, Ncikazi will remain within the club’s technical team after his short-term assignment ends.
An internal source praised his contribution, saying:
“Coach Mandla has always handled his duties with professionalism and dedication. He enjoys great respect at the club.”
The same source added that Ncikazi’s contract runs until next year, and the club intends to retain him on the technical staff moving forward.
Transfer Watch: Rowan Human Back on Pirates’ Radar
Meanwhile, Rowan Human, the 24-year-old midfielder set to leave AmaZulu FC at the end of June, has been offered to both Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs, according to reports.
The player’s camp is working on securing his next move after contract talks with AmaZulu stalled.
“Given his recent form, a deal may materialize quickly,” said a source close to the player.
Human was previously linked to the Pirates during the January transfer window, and the Soweto giants could now revive their interest in the free agent.
Coaching Future: Pirates Eye Mokwena
In a related development, reports suggest that former Mamelodi Sundowns boss Rulani Mokwena is also being considered for the permanent coaching role at Orlando Pirates, though discussions remain at an early stage.
