Phoenix defender, Terrence Ross, announced his retirement from the professional career. The 32-year-old player attributed this decision to a desire to spend more time with his family and his frequent susceptibility to injuries.
"I feel that it's time for me to conclude, especially now that some time has passed," he shared on his podcast. "I'm starting to realize how much I enjoy being home and simply being a father, just being part of my family."
Previously, there were rumors of Ross's potentially moving to Europe. The player himself confirmed having received an offer from Serbia's Partizan Mozzart Belgrade. However, Terrence later admitted that he no longer derived the same enjoyment from basketball as before. "I watch the games, and instead of thinking, 'Wow, I miss them so much,' the first thing that came to my mind was, 'Okay, Boston is playing New York'", Ross confessed.
Terrence Ross was drafted by the Toronto Raptors in the 2012 NBA Draft, selected in the first round as the eighth overall pick. He played for the Canadian club until 2017 when he was traded to the Orlando Magic for Serge Ibaka, along with a first-round draft pick in 2017. After spending five years in Orlando, the player signed with the Phoenix Suns.
Throughout his NBA career, he participated in 733 games. In his debut season, Ross emerged as the Slam Dunk Contest winner. During the 2022/23 season, he played 21 games with the Phoenix Suns, averaging 9.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.0 assists. In the current season, the basketball player has not appeared in any games.
