Panama has finalized its 26-man roster for both the upcoming World Cup qualifiers and the 2025 Gold Cup. As reported by Claro Sports, head coach Thomas Christiansen opted for a unified list that will cover the matches against Belize and Nicaragua, as well as the continental tournament to be held in the United States.
For the qualifiers on June 7 and 10, the squad will be trimmed to 23 players, though the full group will travel for the Gold Cup. The selection showcases Panama’s international presence, with nine players based in Europe and ten currently playing in South America.
The team continues preparations at Virgilio Tejeira Stadium in Penonomé, having completed its fourth training session on Tuesday. Defender Andrés Andrade, currently with Austria’s LASK Linz, is expected to join the squad on June 8 after receiving special leave due to his European club duties.
Injuries have forced changes. Midfield linchpin Adalberto Carrasquilla was ruled out after sustaining a muscle injury on May 4 while playing for Pumas UNAM. Defender Omar Valencia also withdrew following a shoulder injury in MLS action over the weekend.
Andrade’s return is one of the key updates. Absent for a year due to a knee injury suffered in May 2024, the center-back’s comeback brings experience and depth to Panama’s defense as they gear up for a critical phase in their World Cup campaign.
