Patrick Vieira Reaches Agreement to Become Senegal Head Coach as Federation Awaits Pape Thiaw Exit

Patrick Vieira is reportedly set to become the next head coach of the Senegal national team after reaching an agreement in principle with the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF).

The former France international has been in Senegal since July 29, where he has held a series of meetings with federation officials as discussions over his appointment gathered pace.

According to multiple local reports, both parties have now agreed on the main terms of the deal, putting Vieira in line to succeed Pape Thiaw as the Teranga Lions' next head coach.

However, the appointment has not yet been made official.

The delay is understood to be linked to the contractual situation involving current coach Pape Thiaw, who remains under contract with the federation.

Reports indicate that the FSF is currently working to finalise an agreement with Thiaw over the termination of his contract, including the settlement of his compensation package, before formally unveiling Vieira as the new man in charge.
