Official: Hervé Renard is the new head coach of the Ivory Coast national team

The appointment of the French manager was made official this Tuesday 4 August by the Ivorian Football Federation.

Hervé Renard has officially returned to lead the coaching staff of the Ivory Coast national team. Following his first spell in charge between 2014 and 2015, he will once again lead the Elephants on the international stage.

The Ivory Coast Football Federation announced in a statement this 4 August that the Frenchman is taking the reins of the national team.

“The Ivorian Football Federation hereby informs the Ivorian football community, its member associations, its institutional and commercial partners, and the general public that Mr Hervé Jean-Marie Roger RENARD has been appointed as Head Coach of the Ivory Coast National A Team.”

Hervé Renard has extensive experience of African football. He has managed several national teams across the continent. The 57-year-old French tactician also won the Africa Cup of Nations with Ivory Coast in 2015. He also won the tournament with Zambia in 2012.

His appointment comes a few days after the departure of Emerse Fae, whose contract was not renewed. Hervé Renard will therefore lead the Elephants in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, which are due to begin in September 2026.
