Palmeiras Eyes Young Goalkeeper to Future-Proof Between the Posts

According to OTV Foco, Palmeiras has entered talks to sign a younger goalkeeper who could eventually step in for veteran Weverton. At 37, Weverton remains the undisputed starter, but with Marcelo Lomba's departure looming, the club recognizes the need for a solid backup.
The standout target at the moment is Matheus Albino from CRB, a 30‑year‑old who has impressed in the Copa do Brasil. Reports via Nosso Palestra suggest Palmeiras has already made exploratory inquiries. Albino holds a key role at CRB, and transitioning him may be difficult—but Palmeiras believes it can match the financial demands.
Albino joined CRB last season, quickly earning the trust of coach Eduardo Barroca and securing a starting spot. His performances have made him instrumental for the Alagoas side.
Palmeiras aims to close the deal during the upcoming transfer window. The plan is to add Albino to the squad, giving Weverton rest when needed during a busy schedule, and officially succeeding Marcelo Lomba, who will leave the club soon.
