The race for Manchester United's most explosive academy talent has found its most aggressive suitor yet. Bayern Munich are not just watching JJ Gabriel; they have already sat down with his camp and made a promise no other club has matched.

Details: According to Sky, Bayern Munich have held talks with JJ Gabriel, with a promise of first team football. The German giants have shown the 16-year-old a clear development plan, Vincent Kompany is a known admirer, and the club believes Gabriel could make an immediate breakthrough. However, there is skepticism in Munich over the financial demands: the player's camp is requesting a salary in the single-digit millions plus an exorbitant signing fee.

The talks have been building for months. Sky Germany reports that agents Ali Barat and Marcello Brillmann, now poised to represent the youngster, were already at Bayern's Säbener Straße headquarters in early May 2026, with further meetings planned. Bayern are not alone: Barcelona and Real Madrid are described as having very concrete interest and are ready to offer XXL packages combining salary, bonuses and signing-on fees, while PSG are lurking. All of it became actionable today: Gabriel turned 16 on October 6, and with an EU passport through his parents he can now agree terms with clubs in the European Union. The context is a full-blown standoff at Old Trafford: Gabriel formally requested to leave in September after United declined to register him for the Champions League match against Sabah, where he was instead unleashed on the Youth League and scored a hat-trick. He has not reported to Carrington since, instead training with a private specialist in Castelldefels near Barcelona, and United, who regard him as a future £100 million asset, are weighing legal action against intermediaries because FIFA's compensation mechanism could see him leave for as little as £300,000. Michael Carrick has urged caution and spoken of the player's welfare, while the club is reportedly preparing a first professional contract containing a £1 billion release clause, which would only matter if Gabriel signs it. The January window, opening on January 1, is now the circled date on every European superpower's calendar.

It's worth noting that Gabriel was named the Premier League U18 Player of the Season last term despite playing against older opponents, and has scored in all three competitive appearances of his fledgling campaign, a record that explains both the frenzy around him and the lengths to which United are going to keep him.

Reminder: Gabriel could be snapped up for a laughable fee. Manchester United may go to court over 15-year-old prospect.
