Victor Osimhen will captain the Super Eagles in their AFCON 2025 semi-final against hosts Morocco after regular skipper Wilfred Ndidi was suspended. Ndidi picked up a ban during Nigeria’s quarter-final win over Algeria, forcing head coach Eric Chelle to hand the armband to vice-captain Osimhen for the crucial clash.
The striker has been one of Nigeria’s standout players at the tournament and previously led the team in a 3-1 victory over Uganda. Osimhen was decisive again in the last eight, scoring once and providing an assist in a comfortable 2-0 win over Algeria.
Nigeria arrive unbeaten, winning all five matches so far, while Morocco will count on home support and solidity.
The semi-final will be played on Wednesday in Rabat
