Osimhen Slams Officiating After Nigeria Lose to Morocco
Victor Osimhen has expressed frustration after Nigeria’s semifinal loss to hosts Morocco at AFCON. The Super Eagles were eliminated 4–2 on penalties after a goalless 120 minutes.
Speaking after the game, the Galatasaray striker admitted the defeat was hard to accept, saying, “I think me and my teammates we are all professionals but it is disappointing and it's hurting… then we have to wait more years to try to qualify again.”
Osimhen also criticised the officiating, describing it as “nothing to write home about… it was that bad,” while singling out referee Daniel Nii Ayi.
Despite his frustration, he congratulated the hosts, noting, “A big congratulations to the Moroccans… I am proud of my team.”
He added that the squad is “sad and disappointed,” believing Nigeria had what it took to go all the way overall.
