Morocco booked a place in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final after a penalty shootout win over Nigeria in Rabat on Wednesday night. The semi-final at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium ended goalless and went to spot-kicks. Goalkeeper Yassine Bounou was decisive, saving efforts from Bruno Onyemaechi and Samuel Chukwueze. Achraf Hakimi converted Morocco’s fourth penalty.
After the match, the captain admitted memories returned, saying, “At that moment, many things went through my head… I remembered the penalty in Ivory Coast.” He added, “Everyone trusted me… I was watching the goalkeeper… then I saw there was space.” Morocco face Senegal Sunday.
