On Monday, July 1st, one of the four Grand Slam tournaments, Wimbledon, begins, lasting until July 14th.

The tournament is organized by the British Lawn Tennis Association. Since 1988, Wimbledon has been the only Grand Slam event played on grass courts. This year, the total prize money amounts to £50.0 million ($63.14 million USD), with singles champions receiving £2.7 million each.

In the main draw of the singles event, 128 players compete in both the men's and women's categories. The men's and women's doubles feature 64 pairs each, and the mixed doubles event includes 48 pairs.

Roger Federer holds the record for the most singles titles among men with eight, while Martina Navratilova leads among women with nine titles.

Wimbledon is an international cultural phenomenon, annually broadcasted by 80 television networks. Over 3,000 journalists and photographers cover the tournament, with numerous literary works and films inspired by its events.

Recently, the first-round draw for Wimbledon took place, revealing the opponents for all the top contenders.
