Barcelona have been dealt a painful blow just as the new season gathers pace.
Details: According to Catalunya Radio, goalkeeper Joan García has suffered a meniscus injury in his right knee and is expected to be sidelined for around three weeks. The problem emerged after Barcelona's emphatic 7-2 La Liga victory over Racing Santander, when García was forced to leave the pitch at half-time. He had slipped near his own penalty area shortly before the interval and was replaced by Wojciech Szczęsny.
The setback is a serious concern for Hansi Flick, as García has established himself as Barcelona's first-choice goalkeeper. The Catalan club will now have to rely on Szczęsny while the Spaniard completes his recovery.
Barcelona have made a perfect start to the La Liga season, winning all six of their opening matches. The 7-2 rout of Racing took the Catalans to 18 points and an extraordinary 28 goals scored after only six rounds.
It is worth noting that García started Barcelona's first six league matches of the 2026/27 campaign, underlining just how important the goalkeeper has become in Flick's starting XI.
