Following Umtiti, another French defender has decided to hang up his boots.
Details: French defender Léo Dubois has officially announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 31.
During his career, Dubois earned 13 caps for the French national team, spent four seasons with Nantes (105 appearances), and another four with Lyon (129 appearances). He also featured for Turkish clubs Galatasaray and Istanbul Basaksehir, and until last summer defended the colors of another Turkish side, Eyüpspor.
"Time to turn the page. After all these years of a professional career, I am closing this chapter of my life—a childhood dream that became reality. Nothing ever came easy, but every stage had its meaning. And without a doubt, my greatest pride—thank you to the French national team, it was an honor to represent and defend the colors of our country," Dubois wrote on his Instagram.
Reminder: Didier Deschamps has included N'Golo Kanté in the French national team squad for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
