Yesterday, Italian tennis player Jannik Sinner won the 2024 US Open, defeating American Taylor Fritz in straight sets in the final. This victory officially signals the dawn of a new era in world tennis.

Details: For the first time since 2002, none of the Grand Slam tournaments throughout the year were won by any member of the "Big Four"—Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, or Andy Murray.

In 2024, all four Grand Slam titles were claimed by Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner. The Spaniard triumphed at Roland Garros and Wimbledon, while Sinner captured the US Open and Australian Open titles.

Reminder: These are the first Grand Slam victories of Sinner's career.

Murray and Federer have already retired, while Djokovic and Nadal were unable to contest any of the major trophies this season.

At present, Sinner holds the top spot in the ATP world rankings.
