Morata will not be suspended for the Euro 2024 semifinal
UEFA has confirmed that Álvaro Morata is ready to play in the European Championship semifinal for Spain.
Initially, it was reported that the 31-year-old player received a yellow card after his team scored the winning goal in extra time of the quarterfinal against Germany in Stuttgart on Friday.
Television reports and the official UEFA website first indicated a caution for the Spanish team's captain, but the yellow card was later annulled. Morata himself told journalists after the match that he did not receive any warning.
The Atlético Madrid forward received a yellow card in the Round of 16 victory against Georgia, which could have led to a one-game suspension if he received another warning.
Mikel Merino scored the winning goal for Spain in the 119th minute, securing their place in the semifinal. Initially, it was assumed that Morata, who had been substituted earlier in the game, would receive a caution afterward, but UEFA confirmed this was not the case.
Now, Morata is preparing for Spain's match against France, which will take place on Friday evening, July 9, in Munich.
