Lucas Paquetá Eyes Flamengo Return, But West Ham Reluctant to Sell

Lucas Paquetá is reportedly open to returning to Flamengo amid ongoing legal uncertainty in England. According to The Sun, the Brazilian midfielder believes this could be the right time to come back home, especially after a difficult season at West Ham.
The Premier League club, however, is in no rush to let him go and may demand as much as £30 million (roughly R$222 million). Flamengo’s board is evaluating whether the investment is feasible, particularly given Paquetá’s legal status.
The player has been under investigation by the English FA since May 2024 for allegedly violating betting regulations. He is accused of deliberately seeking yellow cards in four league matches, which could result in a lifetime ban if found guilty. Although the case was concluded earlier this month, the final verdict is still pending, with a decision expected within the next two months.
Flamengo had previously attempted to bring Paquetá back in December 2024, but negotiations stalled after West Ham reversed their initial willingness to sell. Despite the setback, Paquetá’s desire to return to his boyhood club remains strong.
For now, Flamengo fans wait — hopeful that the talented playmaker might once again wear the red and black, though the path remains far from simple.
