Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper goes under the knife for a shoulder injury: Reports
Fiacre Ntwari has gone under the knife for a shoulder injury, according to reports.
The Rwandan number one and Kaizer Chiefs’ third choice goalkeeper is facing a spell on the sidelines until, at least, March next year.
This may well be the end of his season as he has not been a regular for Amakhosi and by the time he comes back from the medical room, the season would be two months away from finishing.
He has to battle match fitness and depending on how well Brandon Peterson and Bruce Bvuma would be doing – Chiefs goalkeepers – Ntwari may find it hard to break into the line-up.
“Yeah, he has undergone surgery and it was successful. The operation was done on Monday, and he could be out until March,” said the source according to Soccerladuma.
The news comes as a surprise given that the player has been active for some time without discomfort.
It is said that the former TS Galaxy goal-minder has been playing while carrying the injury.
“He got the injury a while ago and has been playing with it. It became necessary to sort it out properly, so he’s now focusing on recovery,” the source said.
A well-known penalty stopper when on song, Ntwari could only save one spot-kick when Chiefs lost 5-4 to Stellenbosch FC on penalties last month in the Carling Knockout Cup.
This game saw him refuse to be subbed as Chiefs ended up losing. Whether his coaches knew of his injury hence the substitution, it’s another story, but if the reports are true, this could be the reason behind his rebel against his coaches on the day at Cape Town Stadium.
