Jordan Henderson made a €12 million move from Liverpool to Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia just this summer. However, reports are emerging that he wishes to return to England.

The midfielder's departure after spending twelve years at Liverpool has sparked a significant uproar among fans, particularly because, prior to relocating to the Middle East, Henderson had voiced strong support for the LGBTQ+ community.

Yet, Henderson's move hasn't gone as planned. Al-Ittihad's coach, Steven Gerrard, faces potential dismissal after failing to secure a victory in any of the team's last eight matches over the past two months. Additionally, Henderson himself hasn't made any significant contributions in his last thirteen appearances.

Returning to England would mean a substantial financial loss for the midfielder, both in terms of salary and taxes. Presently earning £700,000 per week, Henderson is exempt from paying taxes under Saudi Arabian legislation, which grants tax exemptions to players who spend more than two seasons in the country. An early departure could result in a staggering tax bill of £7 million.

Despite this, the 33-year-old footballer has hinted to teammates about contemplating a departure, struggling to adapt to the playing conditions in his new country.

Although no club has explicitly shown interest in Henderson, speculations hint at a possible destination being Chelsea. When questioned, team manager Mauricio Pochettino stated:

"We haven't discussed names. At the moment, we are not talking about specific players."

The fate of Jordan Henderson remains uncertain, but he stands as one of the prominent players considering a swift exit from Saudi Arabia.
