Jonathan David joins Juventus on five-year deal after prolific spell at Lille

Juventus have completed the signing of Canadian forward Jonathan David on a deal through 2030, the club confirmed Friday via an official statement. The 25-year-old arrives from Lille after scoring 109 goals in 232 appearances across all competitions, with standout performances against Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid in the latest UEFA Champions League campaign.
A Ligue 1 champion in 2021, David consistently ranked among the league’s top scorers over the past three seasons—finishing fourth, second, and third, respectively. His development from Gent to Lille positioned him as one of the most reliable and in-demand strikers in Europe.
Born in Brooklyn and raised in Canada, David made his national team debut in 2018 and has since earned 66 caps, netting 35 goals for Canada. He now becomes Juventus’ first signing under new CEO Damien Comolli.
The Turin club, aiming to rebound after a lackluster Serie A season and an early Club World Cup exit against Real Madrid, sees David as a key figure in revitalizing its attack. His arrival marks both a strategic and symbolic step forward in Juve’s search for consistency and firepower.
