Intentional! Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou reveals Pirates are a championship chasing club this season
Abdeslam Ouaddou has opened his playing cards: Orlando Pirates are interested in winning the Betway Premiership title.
Following Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Durban City, Pirates are now atop of the PSL standings with three points separating them from the second placed Mamelodi Sundowns.
For a long time and in general, coaches tend to be shy about revealing whether they are chasing the championship or not fearing being questioned should they fail in that ambition.
But Pirates under Ouaddou have declared themselves as potential champions and a side with ambition to lift the Betway Premiership.
“When you come to Orlando Pirates, I think you are not coming here to play for fifth place or third,” he said. “Definitely, you come to compete for the title, so we cannot hide it.”
“We need to compete, and there are a lot of good teams in this PSL that are competing for the title. So, we are one of those teams, and we will definitely fight, fight, fight until the end of the season,” the coach said.
