During a meeting with representatives of the league's competition committee at the NBA office, it was discussed that referees have started paying more attention to players who deliberately change their direction of movement towards defenders to draw fouls instead of heading towards the basket.

It was noted that the new guidelines distributed by the league to referees and team officials in January and February have contributed to a recent decrease in the number of points scored.

The league emphasized that it continues to assess the balance between offense and defense, particularly focusing on the legitimate position of defenders and their reactions during drives to the basket.

At the same time, the league stated that it has not issued instructions to reduce the number of points scored, but will continue to monitor trends.

Future committee meetings will determine whether changes to the rules or their interpretations for the next season are warranted.
