Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle has revealed a plan if Nigeria’s AFCON 2025 semi-final against Morocco is decided by penalties. Speaking in Rabat ahead of Wednesday’s clash, Chelle said he would seek help at a mosque if the encounter reached a shootout.
Nigeria arrive in the last four in strong form, having won all five matches at the tournament. The three-time champions opened with wins over Tanzania and Tunisia, rotated their squad to beat Uganda, and thrashed Mozambique in the round of 16. They then confirmed their title credentials with a 2-0 quarter-final victory over Algeria.
Asked about penalties, Chelle smiled and said, “I will go to the mosque to pray to win if we get to a penalty shootout.”
