‘I learned one thing’: Koeman responds to Lewandowski scandal in Polish national team

The scandal surrounding Barcelona forward Robert Lewandowski's decision to halt his appearances for the Polish national team has now spilled beyond Poland's borders and is making waves across Europe. News of the controversy has even reached Ronald Koeman, the coach of Poland’s rivals in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Details: During a press conference, representatives of the Netherlands national team were asked about Michal Probierz’s decision. Koeman referenced his own experience in response.
Quote: “One thing I learned: never get into an argument with your most important player. I don’t do that. You can’t win in that situation,” Koeman stated.
Reminder: Earlier, Lewandowski revealed he was upset not so much by the head coach’s decision to strip him of the captain’s armband, but by the way he was informed about it. This ultimately led to his decision to step away from the national team as long as Probierz remains head coach.
