RIP. Mourning in Poland! Legendary footballer Jacek Ziober dies at 60
Polish football has suffered a devastating loss with the passing of one of the most brilliant and technically gifted midfielders of the late 20th century.
Details: Former Poland international and legendary ŁKS Łódź academy product Jacek Ziober has died at the age of 60 after a long and serious illness. Representatives of the Polish club announced the news.
The famous athlete's heart stopped beating on Tuesday morning. Ziober was a symbol of the Łódź club for many years, making more than 200 appearances in the national league before going on to enjoy successful spells abroad, representing French side Montpellier and Spain's Osasuna.
The wide midfielder made 47 appearances for Poland and scored seven goals. In 1990, experts named him Poland's Footballer of the Year, highlighting his outstanding contribution to the development of sport in the country.
It is worth noting that after ending his playing career abroad, Jacek Ziober moved into coaching, taking charge of Poland's national beach soccer team for several years.
