The Polish national team is currently mired in a deep crisis, as team leader Robert Lewandowski clashed with head coach Michał Probierz and announced he would not play for the squad as long as Probierz remains in charge. The Barcelona striker has now revealed the reasons behind his decision.

Details: In an interview with Polish media, Lewandowski stated that what hurt him was not so much the decision to strip him of the captain's armband, but rather the manner in which it was communicated. Probierz simply called and told Robert as a fait accompli, and just minutes after their conversation, an official announcement was released. The forward emphasized that a face-to-face discussion would not have provoked such a reaction from him.

Quote: "I felt that such matters should be resolved differently. Especially since there was still plenty of time before the next international break. On top of that, we had an important match coming up, and everything was communicated over the phone. That's not how it should be done. The coach has lost my trust. However, I want to stress: it's not that I've suddenly taken offense at the national team.

For years, I have always given everything I have for the national team. It has always been the most important thing to me. But at the same time, it hurts me what happened. It's not even about the decision itself, but the way it was communicated to me," Lewandowski told WP Sportowe Fakty.
