Hugo Broos on Bafana Bafana Afcon elimination: We tried everything we could to get a positive result but it was not our day against Cameroon
Hugo Broos is dejected.
The Bafana Bafana coach is a disappointed man.
South Africa were eliminated from the Africa Cup of Nations by Cameroon, losing 2-1 in the last-16.
Junior Tchamadeu and Christian Kofane scored in the first half for the Indomitable Lions while Evidence Makgopa netted for South Africa.
Broos made several changes in his starting line-up and, to a large degree, this hampered the combination play the team had created in the group stage matches.
“We started very well at the game, and we had chances to score, I think if we had scored, we can never lose the game,” Broos said in his post-match interview.
“I was happy with what we brought in the first half, so we thought to go on in the second and after a few minutes in the second then we concede a second goal and that is a little bit pity because then we had to score two goals.
“Even we had the chances to score those two goals and to have a draw, but it was not our day today.”
