Historic milestone! Brahim Diaz on the verge of a sensational Africa Cup of Nations record
In Rabat, the national teams of Morocco and Senegal are set to battle for the gold medals at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
With just over an hour left before the grand final kicks off, the stage is set for a potential all-time tournament record. The current top scorer is Morocco’s Brahim Diaz, who has found the net five times so far.
Remarkably, the Real Madrid midfielder has scored in five different matches, and one more goal in the final could see him shatter an astonishing record. The 26-year-old Moroccan could become the first player in Africa Cup of Nations history to score in six separate matches during a single tournament.
It’s also worth noting that Morocco and Senegal will face each other for the first time ever in the final stage of the continental championship. This is the first time since 1996 that two teams will meet for the first time in a final, when South Africa and Tunisia made their tournament debut encounter in the title match.
