Historic CECAFA Workshop in Nairobi Aims to Revolutionize Football Analysis

The Football Kenya Federation FKF's hosting the first ever CECAFA Technical Study Group TSG Workshop in Nairobi, a groundbreaking initiative set to reshape football analysis in east & Central Africa. The 3-day workshop running from 13 Mar to March 15, 2025, unites 14 top football experts from Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Burundi, Tanzania, Djibouti and Uganda.
A Game Changing Initiative
Held at Swiss Lenana Mount Hotel, the event's led by FKF Technical Director Michael Amenga & Tanzanian Technical Director Oscar Mirambo with support from CAF and CECAFA. The workshop aims to elevate football standards by advancing tactical assessments, data driven match analysis and technical expertise.
Key Objectives:
- Moving from traditional analysis to evidence based football assessment.
- Training experts in analyzing tactical, physical and mental aspects of the game.
- Establishing a structured approach to identifying top performers in regional tournaments.
FKF Education Officer Salim Ali emphasized the necessity of data in modern football:
"Holding tournament without data leaves no reference point for analysis & improvement. The lack of structured data's held east african football back but this initiative provides solid framework for progress".
Expert Insights
Former Tanzanian international and CAF Instructor Juma Kaseja Juma praised the initiative:
"I’ve learned to differentiate between the Man of the Match and the Best Player of tournament. Meeting experts from different countries has been eye opening experience"
Kenyan CAF Instructor Jackline Juma also highlighted the workshop’s impact:
"This workshop's training football experts in technical study and analysis. Unlike coaching, it focuses on 4 key components: technical, tactical, physical and mental aspects. The knowledge gained here will be crucial for the future of CECAFA football"
Ugandan participant Sharon Kiza added:
