Manchester City hosted Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium. The teams failed to score against each other, playing out a goalless draw (0-0).

Former Arsenal striker Theo Walcott, in an interview with Sky Sports, noted that the Gunners have taken four points from matches against City this season.

"The pattern has now been broken for Arsenal at Man City. It's not a win but it's a draw and a point away at a stadium that hasn't been kind to Arsenal. They have four points from City this season and that says it all. They would have taken this before the game."

Manchester United legend and Sky Sports expert Gary Neville praised Arsenal's solid defensive performance and singled out Saliba for special mention.

"Some great defending, the shape of Arsenal. City tried, they probed. Who knows what this point will mean in nine games time? The title battle gets bumped down the road. There's a lot of respect between both teams but they weren't at their best today.

Saliba has been absolutely outstanding, a giant on the pitch. A special mention to Gabriel as well, who wasn't far behind in his performance. But this has answered the question of how much Saliba was missed last season."

However, former Manchester City player Micah Richards expressed dissatisfaction with City's leader Erling Haaland.

"The result is not the end of the world. I was disappointed with Man City in the final third. They did a lot of great work until they got into the final third.

Haaland made plenty of different runs but the link-up play was non-existent. Haaland needed to do more. Saliba and Gabriel had him in their pockets."

Liverpool legend Roy Keane remarked that the main winner of the evening was Liverpool.

"I think Liverpool are the real winners today, winning and then watching these two draw. They will be delighted. All of a sudden you're looking at the table thinking Liverpool are favourites for it.

Everyone has a plan before the game but when you come to Man City, ultimately you know you are going to have to defend. You have to look at City as the home team and their record, it's a more disappointing result for them. You have to give credit to Arsenal”.

Following this result at the Etihad, Liverpool remained at the top of the Premier League table. The Merseyside team is two points ahead of Arsenal and three ahead of Manchester City.
