Gallardo Makes Three Changes as River Host Platense in Quarterfinal Clash

River Plate will look to extend their strong run of form on Tuesday night when they take on Platense in the Torneo Apertura quarterfinals. The match, set for 8:30 p.m. at the Monumental, comes just days after River secured top spot in their Copa Libertadores group with a 6-2 win over Independiente del Valle. According to TyC Sports, manager Marcelo Gallardo is set to reintroduce three key players to his starting lineup.
Paulo Díaz, Marcos Acuña, and Enzo Pérez are expected to return after being rested in the previous match. They’ll replace Germán Pezzella, Milton Casco, and Giuliano Galoppo, respectively. The rest of the lineup remains unchanged, reflecting Gallardo’s confidence in a core group that has delivered consistent performances in recent weeks.
Gonzalo Montiel is the only confirmed absentee after suffering a setback in his recovery from a hamstring injury. Otherwise, River will have a full squad at their disposal for what is a must-win fixture at home.
Should they advance past Platense, River will face either San Lorenzo or Argentinos Juniors in the semifinals. With a blend of seasoned veterans and emerging talent, Gallardo’s side is aiming for yet another domestic trophy.
Expected XI: Franco Armani; Fabricio Bustos, Paulo Díaz, Lucas Martínez Quarta, Marcos Acuña; Kevin Castaño, Enzo Pérez, Ignacio Fernández; Franco Mastantuono, Sebastián Driussi, Facundo Colidio.
