Zimbabwe could face CAF sanctions after the death of a supporter
The Warriors could be forced to play their next home matches outside Zimbabwe or behind closed doors following the death of a supporter on 28 September at the National Sports Stadium in Harare.
The incident occurred during Zimbabwe’s national team’s 1–2 defeat to the DR Congo on matchday two of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. This situation could call into question the use of the National Sports Stadium for Zimbabwe’s upcoming international matches.
According to Micky Jr, the Confederation of African Football is expected to issue an official decision regarding any measures that may be taken. This prospect would be a major blow to Zimbabwean football.
The Warriors had only just returned to the National Sports Stadium, having been forced in recent years to host their opponents outside Zimbabwe.
