Another day at Roland Garros brought a surprise in the women’s singles draw. The third-round clash between Frenchwomen Elsa Jacquemot and Lois Boisson ended with Boisson triumphing in three sets.

The 22-year-old Boisson, ranked 361st in the world, secured her spot in the tournament’s fourth round with this victory. She becomes the lowest-ranked player to reach this stage at Roland Garros since 2018—when Serena Williams achieved the same feat while ranked No. 451 in the WTA rankings.

It’s worth noting that all other round-of-16 participants are ranked inside the world’s top 70, with Boisson the sole representative from outside the top 300. For a spot in the quarterfinals, Lois will face world No. 3 Jessica Pegula. Their match is scheduled for tomorrow, June 1, in the first half of the day’s play.
